Alloy 718
Alloy 718, also known as Inconel® Alloy 718 is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-chromium-columbium-molybdenum-titanium-aluminum alloy with good high-temperature strength and corrosion resistance even in oxidizing hot gases.
The outstanding strength characteristics combined with good fabrication characteristics makes Alloy 718 the material for a wide range of applications.
Alloy 718 is characterized by very good strength values as well as high long term values at elevated temperatures up to approx. 650°C (1200°F). In addition, there is good resistance to high-temperature creep caused by the face-centered cubic nickel matrix in conjunction with precipitated intermetallic phases caused by appropriate heat treatment.
Due to its excellent properties, Alloy 718 is used as compression and tension spring, disc spring, gasket, expansion bellow, and stamped metal component in industries requiring long component life at elevated temperatures.
Alloy 718 is used in the automotive industry, aerospace and wherever good long-term strength characteristics at elevated temperatures - often in combination with hot gases - are required.
Special mechanical properties can be adjusted as required within the scope of technical feasibility.
