Alloy 188
Haynes® Alloy 188 is a cobalt-nickel-chromium-tungsten alloy designed for prolonged exposures above 1200°F. Additions of lanthanum helps to form a firmly adhering and dense oxide layer.
In addition, the material has excellent high-temperature characteristics as well as sulfidation and oxidation resistance up to 2000°F (1095°C).
Haynes® Alloy 188 is a solid solution strengthened material making an aging treatment unnecessary. It is normally used in the solution heat-treated rapidly cooled or water quenched condition.
The alloy has good forming and welding characteristics using conventional techniques.
The areas of application for Haynes® Alloy 188 are essentially high-temperature long term applications under hot-gas corrosion conditions, such as those encountered in the aerospace and chemical industries and in land-based gas turbines.
Another attractive feature include the excellent resistance against molten chloride salts.
